I wouldn’t consider myself an Aberdeen supporter in any way, but since Sir Alex Ferguson has just recently retired I thought that I’d give their crest a shot and incorporate two stars for their two European trophies from 1983 (during Fergie’s tenure).
You can see the current crest on the right, which has been used since 1986. I figured the football looked a bit dated and the ‘AFC’ in the middle was a wee bit redundant. But I do admire the 1986 design. I updated the typeface and decided that a massive ‘A’ looked quite timeless. An earlier version of my AFC crest redesign featured three wee castles (inspired by the Aberdeen flag and coat of arms), but I decided it was too busy.
